Kiki Banjo hosts an extremely popular college radio show advising the co-eds around her on how not to fall for players, and transfer student Malakai Korede already has a reputation for being just that. When they find that their career interests align and there’s an academic opportunity for them both, they decide to make the most of the benefits – by becoming the new “it” couple of the Afro-Caribbean Society at Whitewell University in England. This would be fun and exciting – Kiki is a role model because of her show, and Malakai is beyond gorgeous and a talented videographer – except it’s not a real relationship. It’s a surprise to them both when spending time together proves to be one of the best benefits of the scheme.
But before Kiki and Malakai can decide to make things official (and real), they both have a lot to learn in the relationship department. This debut novel from Bolu Babalola is a saucy tale with lots of heart and drama, and you’ll be rooting for Kiki and Malakai in no time.
Come to Create Good Co.’s Book Club on Wednesday, June 5, 6:00-7:30, to talk about Honey and Spice. Space is limited, so get your ticket to claim your spot!
